You will taste the various Russian culinary specialities: from vodka and its tasty zakouski (vegetables and salty pastries) to tea with its delicacies, all with a warm welcome from your hosts. You are intrigued and you ask a thousand and one questions about this immense country that is Russia? Your hosts will be happy to answer any questions you may have about their country and way of life. They will tell you about the characteristics of life in Russia today, but also in the days of the Soviet Union.
Authentic and delicious, this visit will remain an unforgettable memory of your stay in Russia.
Discover authentic real Russian culture on this great food tour that takes you from the oldest market Moscow where you can taste some Russian food. After this we will move on to our host who will have laid a table of traditional Russian food for you to enjoy. Tuck into a traditional home cooked meal of authentic Russian dishes and chat with your hosts about their life in Russia feel free to ask as many questions as you want. Afterwards you will have fond memories of your trip to Moscow and can tell your friends back home you had dinner with a Russian family.
Moscow has drastically changed over the years, from Imperial Russia through to the Soviet power and onto today’s modern area. But despite all those changes, one thing has stayed the same: the food! On this tour, you’ll learn about the culinary traditions before digging into an authentic home cooked meal in a local home.
Once you meet your local Moscow guide, we’ll head off to explore the oldest food market in Moscow. Here you’ll get your first lesson in Russian food culture as you browse the variety of local products on sale. Ever heard of salo? Well, it’s pork fat, and trust us, it’s one of the tastiest treats in the Russian diet. (Note that any snacks you want to try in the market, including salo, are not included in the tour price.)
From there we’ll use the metro to head into a residential quarter, where we’ll visit with hospitable Muscovites in their own home.
We’ll share a traditional dinner, desserts, and drinks like vodka and kvass (a fermented rye-based beverage) or other drinks. If any of the dishes have your taste buds wanting more, don’t worry — we’ll send you home with recipes of the dishes so you can recreate them for your friends and family.
We’ll spend the evening in a warm atmosphere, eating and chatting with locals, and you’ll come away with fond memories of your tour. You are welcome to take photos at the dinner party.
Inclusions: Local English-speaking guide, dinner and drinks at a local home, one-way metro ticket for use during the tour.
Exclusions: Food and drinks in the market, souvenirs and personal shopping, transportation to/from the meeting and end points, tips/gratuities for your guide.
Your Trip: For your Moscow you will be in a small group of a maximum of 6 people.

Child Policy: This is a child-friendly tour. Children between the ages of 6 and 11 inclusively are permitted on this tour at the rate listed above. Please select ‘child’ above when booking. Children under the age of 6 are permitted to join this tour free of charge. Please inform us at the time of booking if you’ll be bringing a child under the age of 6. You can do so in the special request box on the checkout page.

In the event of bad weather forecast we will contact you the day before and offer you either a refund or an amended tour for the following day.
We always advice to wear suitable clothing for the day of the tour as not every day is guaranteed sunshine.
Generally, hotel pick-up is possible. Contact us beforehand to make an appointment.
Otherwise, we will pick you up at 10:00 in front of St Basil’s Cathedral, on the red square.
